Information for parents

We have compiled some information about our Nursery for our new starters – we’re so excited for you to join the St. Leo’s family!

Miss Rotheram – Nursery Teacher
Mrs. Webb – Nursery Teaching Assistant
Mrs. Sambor – Learning Mentor
Mrs. Stephens – Learning Support Assistant

Key worker
Each child has their own key worker, they are there to help your child feel safe and secure, helping them settle into Nursery.

Nursery hours are 8:30 – 11:30 am and 12:30 – 3:30pm.
We also offer a limited number of 30 hour provision places for eligible parents.
Please ensure your child is on time arriving at school, this ensures they don’t miss out on any learning.

We provide snack food in addition to milk and fruit in Nursery, some of our favourites are toast, croissants, crumpets, biscuits and yoghurts. We ask for £5 every half-term to cover the cost.

Nursery can be a very messy place, so please do not put on ‘nice’ clothes. Our children wear the school uniform jumpers with black trousers/skirt or black joggers. Jumpers are available at
Please make sure everything is labelled with your child’s name to ensure it safely makes its way home!

Outdoor Play
In Early Years we play outside no matter the weather (within reason!), please ensure your child has suitable clothing for all weathers. For example,
Rainy day? Warm coat with a hood and wellies
Sunny day? Sun cream applied at home and a sunhat
Snowy day? Hat, scarf and gloves

Ready for School
Some things you can work on before your child starts nursery
* Toileting – practise using the toilet. Work on using the toilet, cleaning themselves and washing hands  independently.
* Dressing – allow time for your child to practise undressing and dressing. The morning may not be the best time, maybe after a bath or before bedtime. Practise putting on and taking off their coat and wellies.
* Maths – practise recognising numbers, counting, shapes and colours.
* Literacy- practise recognising their own name.
